ESSAY WRITING

         PARA PRESENTAR EL TEMA

It is often said / It is often claimed that ... (Se suele decir)

It is a well known fact that... ( es un hecho conocido que…)

It is sometimes forgotten that... (A veces se olvida que…)

A useful starting point for this composition is... Un buen punto de partida para la redacción es…)

To begin with the subject we must refer to ... (Para empezar con el tema, tenemos que hacer referencia primero a …)

Nowadays everybody agrees that ... However, it is open to question whether… ( Hoy en día todo el mundo está de acuerdo en que … Sin embargo, cabe preguntarse si…)

There is a wide variety of opinions about... ( Hay una amplia variedad de opiniones…)

PARA COMENZAR EL DESARROLLO DE LOS TEMAS

The first thing that needs to be said is that... (Lo primero que hace falta decir…)

First of all, let us consider... (En primer lugar consideremos)

Let us begin with ... ( Comencemos por…)

It is interesting to consider… ( Es interesante considerar…)

When we speak about..., we have in mind… (Cuando hablamos sobre…, pensamos en…)

PARA PRESENTAR  UN PUNTO DE VISTA DIFERENTE

All this may be true enough, but... ( Es posible que todo esto  sea cierto, pero...)

LA CONCLUSIÓN

Although + sentence / in spite of + noun,V-ing, pronoum, the fact that + S + V (aunque)      / (a pesar de)

There is no doubt that... / undoubtedly,.. (no hay duda de que / indudablemente)

Also = too= As well= también

But = pero, sino, except

Not only,... but also... ( no solo … sino también)

Exemplification; for example= for instance/ such as (por ejemplo,... / tales como…)

In other words,… that is (to say),… to put in other words,… (es decir,…)

ADVANTAGES / DISADVANTAGES

            The main (dis) advantage of… is … (la principal (des) ventaja de … es …)

There are other (dis) advantages in connection with...( hay otras (des)ventajas en relación con…)

I’d say there are more advantages than drawbacks in … (OR viceversa) (diría que hay más ventajas que inconvenientes en …)

I agree with... / I don’t agree with- I disagree… ( estoy de acuerdo con…/ no estoy de acuerdo con…)

I’m for (in favour) / against... (estoy a favor de …/ estoy en contra de …)

CONCLUSIÓN

     To sum (everything) up… (en resumen)

     To conclude / end / finish (para terminar)

     In conclusion= in short= on the whole= in summary ( en conclusión)
